Many members of the family were fishermen along the Yonne River. Some moved to Paris, while others travelled north in search of new opportunities.
My direct ancestor chose a different path, leaving fishing behind to become a locksmith. He settled first in Saint-Omer, in Pas-de-Calais, and later in Calais, where I was born.
