This family is believed to have originated in Staffordshire, although I do not yet have sufficient documentary evidence to confirm it with certainty. It is the convergence of several pieces of information that led me to this conclusion.
It was in 1787 that the birth of William Bailey was recorded in Kingston, Jamaica. I have not been able to gather any further information about him. However, his daughter Eliza is my third great-grandmother.
She was born in Kingston in 1790 and died in Boulogne-sur-Mer in 1853.
